After the Second World War, the words “never again” became part of our collective memory. And yet, millions of people today live with the consequences of wars they did not choose. War is often discussed through numbers, maps, military strategies, or geopolitical analysis. But behind these frameworks, there are societies, economies, institutions, communities, and everyday lives transformed by violence, uncertainty, inflation, displacement, trade disruption, and social marginalization. At Positive Science, together with Blue Ocean Insight, we believe that researchers should not turn away from these realities. We need to look at war not only as a distant political event, but as a force that reshapes economic systems, social structures, vulnerable communities, and the conditions in which research itself is produced.
This webinar is intended for doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career scholars who already have an article draft, a dissertation chapter, a working paper, or an empirical/theoretical project they would like to prepare for journal submission. Publishing a research article can open important doors in academia and beyond. For doctoral researchers, publications often matter not only for academic visibility but also for dissertation requirements, future postdoctoral opportunities, and applications to positions in universities, central banks, non-profit organizations, and the public sector. Yet the publication process is rarely transparent: many early-career researchers know they need to publish, but are not always told how the process really works, what journals expect, or how to avoid common mistakes. This seminar will offer a practical introduction to the main stages of academic publishing. We will discuss how research articles are structured, what is expected in each section of a paper in Economics and in the Arts, how journal indexes work, and what concrete steps can help improve your chances of publication.
Positive Science is launching the Positive Science - Economics Best Paper Award 2026, an annual award recognising outstanding peer-reviewed research articles published in the journal Positive Science - Economics. The 2026 award cycle includes a total prize fund of US$4,000. Eligible articles will be evaluated according to criteria such as originality, methodological and theoretical rigor, clarity, transparency, reproducibility, relevance, and quality of writing. Authors will be invited to opt in for award consideration. Winners will be announced in March 2027, during an online or hybrid award ceremony organised by Positive Science. Awardees will receive certificates, and prize payments will be processed after verification of eligibility, payment details, and compliance requirements.
